updates on puppies and need more donation

dear all,

these are updates regarding the hurt puppy.

last week, the doctor found another injury on kopi when he did another x-ray on her. apparently, the bone which connects the femur (thigh bone) to the pelvic bone is broken. the friction between the bones will cause kopi pain whenever she moves/tries to walk. he recommends an operation to cut of a part of the femur and then unsharpen the edges so that there will not be friction between the bones. kopi will still be able to walk as the bones are connected by muscles. the cost of this operation might come up to RM1000.

so far, michelle and i have collected RM218 so far excluding those who pledge (RM418 including those who have pledge but have yet to pass us the money). our of the RM218, we have already paid RM150 to the vet.

many have ask us of kopi's future after the operation. these are the choices.
a) SPCA b) back to the playground c) adoption

Choice (a) - the SPCA is full. they will accept the puppy is it is sent there because they never say no, but as they are full, another dog (older/ probably has been there for a year or more) will have to be put down even though the dog is healthy. a life for a life? we don't think it's a good choice. plus, the puppies will be surrounded by walls and we don't think it's a good environment for them to grow up.

Choice (b) - she will be once again reunited with it's sister piko and she will have the playground to roam around. sympathetic people come often to feed them and to play with them. but putting it back to the playground would also mean exposing her again to the danger that caused it misery. we are also worried that it might be beaten or kicked by children in the neighbourhood. we have witnessed children holding sticks as thick as wrists looking for those puppies but as we was there, they didn't dare do anything. i dare not imagine what will happen to them if there is no one to stand up for them. in the playground, they stay in a hole under the pavement, the hole which will direct rainwater to the drain from the road. many times i have found sticks in that hole which i believe kids used them to poke the puppies to get them out of the hole or just for their amusement.

choice (c) - as the two choices above are unfavourable, we am left with this choice. to search for responsible people to take in these wonderful companions and to provide shelter and love to them. i will send out another email with pictures and details of the puppies.

to those who have donated and pledged, we sincerely thank you from the bottom of our hearts. there is nothing much really that we can say but thank you. as the operation costs might come up to RM1000, we are still waiting for more donations to come in. please let your friends know about this and we still welcome donations from you.

here's a special mention about good samaritan:

we have not posted this but piko and kopi have another sister, brown in colour and looks like kopi. she, like kopi, is staying at the vet's also due to an accident. her leg was broken and and metal had to put inside and her fees came up to RM1000. at the present a neighbourhood aunty is paying the bills. we really salute this aunty. this aunty goes to playground to feed the puppies every morning and evening. she brings them rice cooked with meat (not leftovers) and milk for the puppies and she forked out her own money to pay for medical bills of this stray. initially we had offered to help her out with the bills with whatever that is left from the donations we receive but now after the "RM1000 announcement", she has offered to help me instead. we don't feel nice to take her money as she has already forked out so much money for the other pup.

do help us spread the news and do contribute if you can.

thank you very much.

u-jean and michelle

PS: below scans of kopi's x-ray and the payment receipt under michelle's name

notice the difference between the left leg and the right?

fracture on the left leg

you might have enlarge this to see. this is the right foot. the little bone at the end is crushed.

Hey..

Did you check with SPCA if they have funds ready for such cause?

Anyways, from what I know, SPCA usually put the pets to sleep if the pets are old or injured. Do think twice before sending Piko there. If you send it there, I suggest you might as well put it to sleep now as not to spend so much on it. You know what I mean right.
